History

LMR Communications Limited celebrates 20 years of serving emergency service and commercial customers. Incorporated by founders Bill and Janet Latter, LMR has provided customers in Nova Scotia and throughout the Atlantic provinces with high quality two-way radio and paging equipment, sales and service since Bill and Janet formed the company. As former employees of Eastern Electronics Limited, a prominent Lunenburg electronics sales and service company in the 1980's, Bill and Janet brought to LMR experience and customer service skills. After purchasing the Land Mobile Radio division of Eastern Electronics Limited from its owners, and renaming it after it’s name sake product line, Bill and Janet moved the business to the basement of their Lunenburg home where it remained for the next 13 years. Over the years, LMR has sold several product lines, but the core two-way radio product line is mainly Kenwood.
A core part of LMR’s business has and continues to be it’s volunteer fire service customers, government and municipalities as well as commercial customers, large and small. LMR operates a linked repeater system in Lunenburg, Queens, Yarmouth, Digby, Annapolis, Kings, and Shelburne Counties, serving business customers who require wide area radio coverage.

In May of 2002, Bill and Janet Latter decided to retire and sold the business to its present ownership. With the change in ownership, came a change in location and an increased focus on providing service to volunteer fire service customers. This increased focus was due in part to the companies amalgamation with the former ERS Communications. Amalgamation with ERS brought to LMR the dealership for Sceptar pagers. To date, thousands of these pagers as sold by ERS and LMR are in service throughout the four Atlantic provinces. LMR has a customer base spanning all of Atlantic Canada and into Quebec and Ontario.

The face of LMR is it’s Vice-President Peter Tanner. As LMR’s sales and service manager, Peter draws on his skills as a service and installation technician to advise the customer on products that will meet the customers needs and expectations. In addition to being a skilled and experienced service technician, Peter is a trained Paramedic and Volunteer Fire Fighter in active service. Customers receive advice from Peter, not sales pitches. Like Peter, sales and service associate Robert. Frampton is also a Paramedic and Volunteer Fire Fighter in active service. With real life emergency services experience, LMR services the customer based upon this relevant real life knowledge.

For 26 years, LMR Communications Limited has maintained its place in the sales and service of two-way radio and paging equipment in Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces. Times have changes, technology has changed. LMR has changed with these times and the technology to maintain its place as a relevant, stable provider of two-way radio and paging sales and service. However, what has not changed is the quality of the products that LMR continues to sell and the sales and service advice that LMR provides it customers.
